About The Hybrid Workshop

Discover how matrix planting can transform home landscapes into beautiful, ecologically functional, and lower-maintenance gardens. In this Home Gardening Series presentation, Penn State Master Gardener Kevin Kelly explains how layered plantings inspired by natural plant communities create resilient, visually cohesive landscapes. Through extensive photography and practical examples, participants will explore the principles of garden layers, learn how matrix planting differs from traditional groundcovers and densely planted borders, and examine its benefits for pollinators, soil health, and long-term garden maintenance. The program concludes with simple plant combinations and planting strategies for sunny and shady sites that can be adapted to a wide range of home landscapes.

Preregistration is required.

Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar.
