About the Webinar

Kinship Family Forum is a virtual monthly gathering designed to support kinship caregivers—relatives raising children in their extended families—by providing expert-led discussions on essential topics such as child development, legal rights, navigating the foster care system, mental health, and internet safety. In addition to these informative presentations, the forum occasionally features grandparents and grandchildren who share firsthand experiences, offering valuable perspectives on kinship care. Participants also have the opportunity to connect with others in similar situations, exchange resources, and gain insights that empower them in their caregiving roles. This month’s session, The Dean's Journey, will feature Dean Ott, who will share his personal experiences growing up in a kinship family and reflect on the impact it has had on his life.

Kinship care is a term used for individuals raising children by grandparents, other extended family members, and adults with whom they have a close family-like relationship, such as godparents and close family friends, because biological parents are unable to do so for whatever reason.

This event is being offered at no charge to participants.
