    About Me

My interest in forestry began as an undergraduate student with an internship with the US Forest Service, Northern Research Station.  My forestry education and graduate research then focused on silviculture of northern hardwoods, with emphasis on appropriate forest management to promote regeneration with diverse species composition.   While working in Florida, I also became very active in research and collaborative efforts related to non-native invasive species management.

My extension programs with Penn State focus on both of these areas of expertise.  I work with both private landowners and forestry professionals to provide guidance on forest management practices that improve species composition, forest health, and productivity.  I also provide education on identification and management of non-native, invasive plants in Pennsylvania, and work to foster collaboration between public and private sectors on invasive species issues.
