Lorenzoni conducted his DVM studies in Chile where he started his work with poultry as the field veterinarian of a commercial layer complex. Later, he kept specializing in poultry by conducting a master’s degree at McGill University dealing with ascites and oxidative stress; a Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas dealing with ascites and immune system of the airways; and post-doctoral training also at the University of Arkansas working on intestinal diseases and mechanisms to restore intestinal health.

After his formal studies, he started his work with the allied poultry industry serving as a technical advisor for broiler and layer farmers. Lorenzoni has worked based in Europe and the Americas giving technical assistance to poultry farms around the world. In 2017, Lorenzoni joined The Pennsylvania State University where he teaches avian diseases to undergraduate and graduate students. Lorenzoni has a research program dealing with pressing poultry diseases (necrotic enteritis, coccidiosis, and BCO) and an outreach program dedicated to training small and large poultry veterinarians of Pennsylvania in poultry diseases. Lorenzoni developed a 101 poultry diseases course for poultry technicians and flock supervisors in PA where he delivers modules on poultry diseases and biosecurity.
