Andy Yencha recently joined Penn State Extension as a Water Resources Educator based out of the Cumberland County Extension office in Carlisle. He looks forward to working with Pennsylvania residents, farms, and local governments on local water quality improvement projects.

Born and raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, Andy is especially excited to get reacquainted with the fields, forests and streams of his home state after living in Wisconsin since the 1990’s. He’s held several positions focused on watershed restoration including, County Soil and Water Conservation Technician, University of Wisconsin-Extension Natural Resources Educator, and Senior Land Manager. His Extension work in Pennsylvania is focused on private water well protection, agricultural water use and pond management.

After spending many years conducting outreach programs promoting green infrastructure practices like infiltration gardens, pervious pavements and rainwater harvesting in the densely populated Milwaukee region, he also looks forward to supporting similar efforts in the rapidly growing townships of southcentral PA. Yencha holds a B.S. in Biology from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin; and a M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Andy can be contacted via email at azy30@psu.edu or by phone at 717-240-6510 and works out of the Cumberland County Extension office at 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, PA, 17013
