In November, the Penn State Extension Water Resources Team was happy to welcome Heather McKean as its newest Educator. Based in McKean County, Heather will help to provide educational programs to Pennsylvanians in the north-central part of the state. The Extension Water Resources team teaches research-based information about drinking water safety, pond management, stormwater issues, and agricultural water resources.

Heather has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh and most recently comes to us from being a Watershed Conservationist for 11 years at McKean County Conservation District and Biologist at McKean Environmental Solutions LLC. Mrs. McKean has experience implementing numerous fish habitat improvement projects, managing stream monitoring programs, improving and protecting public and private water sources, and coordinating a variety of educational events. Welcome Heather!
