About The In-Person Workshop

Whether you are a new or experienced pond owner, this full-day program combines classroom instruction with hands-on field learning at real ponds. Explore how ponds function and learn practical approaches to long-term pond monitoring and maintenance, including evaluating water quality, identifying native and invasive aquatic plants, understanding wildlife and fisheries, and navigating pond construction and permitting. Participants will move between classroom sessions and field stations to apply concepts directly at the pond and develop skills in observation, assessment, and management. Bring a pond water sample for on-site testing and interpretation of basic water quality parameters. Leave with practical knowledge and tools to evaluate pond conditions, identify potential concerns, and make informed management decisions that support healthy, resilient ponds.

Registering before the event is encouraged and appreciated!
