The American Horse Council, American Association of Equine Practitioners, and United States Department of Agriculture have developed a resource for the horse industry. The Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC) is a website tracking equine disease outbreaks across the United States. They also published the National Equine Health Plan, whose goals are "to protect the health and welfare of the U.S. equine population, facilitate the continued interstate and international movement of equines and their products, ensure the availability of regulatory services, and protect the economic continuity of business in the equine industry. Ultimately, these goals support the larger mission of enhancing the health and economic viability of the US equine industry."

The full plan can be read at National Equine Health Plan: Introduction on the Equine Disease Communication Center website.

The Equine Disease Communication Center website provides alerts for current and past equine disease outbreaks, information on equine infectious diseases for horse owners, and tools and resources for biosecurity, travel, and vaccinations.  Horse owners can also sign up for email alerts when new outbreaks occur.
