Just when you think you have most of the details for the upcoming growing season figured out, new information about certain herbicide labels continues to change. On February 6, 2026, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted federal registration to three dicamba-containing products (Engenia, Stryax, and Tavium) for us in XtendFlex soybeans for the 2026 growing season. This is a two-year conditional registration, and each product is currently awaiting state registrations. Engenia is manufactured by BASF, Stryax from Bayer is the new tradename for the original Xtendimax, and Tavium is a premix of dicamba and s-metolachlor from Syngenta. Since the federal labels for these products are not yet publicly available, below are some initial use updates and restrictions for these products.

  • Maximum of 2 applications of 0.5 lb dicamba a.e./acre annually (1 lb total)
  • Must add a volatility reducing agent (VRA at 40 oz/acre, which is doubled from original label)
  • A drift reducing agent (DRA) must be included in tank as well
  • No AMS (ammonium sulfate) can be included in tankmix
  • These products must be applied through nozzles that produce coarse droplet sizes or larger
  • If temperature is 85-95°F during application, then only 50% of total XtendFlex soybean acres on your farm can be sprayed; you must wait 2 days to spray the remaining acreage. (Do not spray if temperature exceed 95°F)
  • Engenia and Stryax can be applied from burndown up through R1 XtendFlex soybean growth stage, while Tavium has a V4 cutoff
  • Must follow mandatory conservation practices associated with the ESA-PULA guidelines
  • These products are considered Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP) and as in the past, special annual training must be taken; (in-person and online training modules and courses should be available by mid-March)
  • Other use restrictions and practices from original label will need to be followed as well

As the new labels and additional updates about these products in XtendFlex soybean systems are released, we will pass along any necessary details. So, stay tuned…
