Conversations with family members about dementia can be challenging and uncomfortable. The fear or lack of awareness that may accompany these conversations can result in delays that have serious consequences for the entire family. Common difficult discussions include going to the doctor, stopping driving, and making legal and financial plans. To help you prepare for these conversations, Penn State Extension is partnering with the Alzheimer's Association® to provide Dementia Conversations: Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal and Financial Planning.

This event is being offered at no charge to participants.

  • Care partners of those in the early stage of dementia
  • Family members who do not see themselves as caregivers
  • Long-distance caregivers
  • Hands-on caregivers of people in the middle to late stages of a form of dementia
What will you learn?
  • Tips for breaking the ice and having difficult conversations about the common issues that arise with Alzheimer's or dementia
  • How to plan ahead and build a care team that works and communicates well to reduce some of the stress that can accompany a disease like Alzheimer's
