About the In-Person Workshop
Penn State Master Gardeners invite you to create your own container of colorful flowers and herbs designed to attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Pollinating insects play a vital role in maintaining a healthy garden and environment, and even gardeners with limited outdoor space can make a difference. This hands-on program will guide you in selecting host plants to feed larval stages and nectar plants to provide energy for adult insects, giving you the knowledge and materials to support pollinators while adding beauty and life to your garden.
Learn to design a container planting using the principles of thrillers, fillers, and spillers. Choose from a variety of herbs and flowering annuals and prepare and plant your container with guidance from experienced Master Gardeners. Discover how to maintain your container garden throughout the growing season once you take it home. All necessary supplies will be provided, including a 14-inch container, potting soil, plants, and one application of fertilizer.Â
This workshop will be held partially outdoors; please dress accordingly and bring your own gardening gloves.
