About the Live Webinar
Build Your Bones is a program series designed for adults interested in preventing osteoporosis and maintaining bone health. During these classes, you will learn strategies for strengthening your bones and explore medical interventions available for those diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia.
Developed by the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), this program consists of seven weekly live webinar classes. Attendees will have online access to educational materials throughout the series.
Trained Penn State Extension educators will lead interactive presentations addressing:
- The basics of osteoporosis
- Tests available to diagnose osteoporosis
- Medications frequently prescribed for those diagnosed with osteoporosis
- Healthy eating tips to maximize bone health
- Fall prevention exercises and physical activity recommendations
- How to move safely with osteoporosis
- How to retain your independence
The Build Your Bones program is part of a research study, but participation in the research study is not required to join the weekly program. If participants choose to take part in the research study, they will be asked to complete study-related materials.
If you have been diagnosed with or are at risk for osteoporosis, you will want to attend this class.
Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar.
Registrants will also receive access to the webinar recording.

- Who wants to learn more about preventing or managing osteoporosis
- Who has been diagnosed with osteoporosis
- Who is a family member or caregiver for someone with osteoporosis
- Important nutrition and health information to prevent and manage osteoporosis
- How to stay active and prevent falls
- How to retain independence while living with osteoporosis

If I register for a webinar, but am unable to attend the live session, can I view a recording of the webinar at a later time?
Yes, registrants will have access to view the webinar recording regardless if they attended the live session. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live session occurred. You will have access to view the recording for six months from the date of the event.
Can a recorded webinar be viewed multiple times?
In most cases, yes! If a webinar is recorded, there is no limit to how many times the recording can be viewed.
What materials will I need for a webinar?
All webinars require you to have access to the internet. It is also recommended that your device has sound. Please refer to the webinar description to learn if there are special requirements for viewing a specific webinar.

Will I be given the opportunity to ask questions during a live webinar?
In most cases, yes. Most live webinars give participants an opportunity to ask questions and communicate through a chat box. The chat box is actively monitored, and the presenter(s) will facilitate communication.
