About the Live Webinar
In the tens of thousands of years since the dog evolved from the wolf, humans have adapted them into one of the most diverse species on the planet. Today, more than 400 recognized breeds exhibit distinct physical and behavioral traits that define them. Due to the nature of selective breeding and segmentation by breed, gene pools have narrowed, which can contribute to health concerns at both the individual dog and breed level. Fortunately, recent technological advances and research have provided genetic tools to identify desirable and undesirable genetic variants, allowing breeders to better plan breeding programs that support healthier litters and help preserve overall breed health and longevity. This lecture will discuss how and when to use these tools appropriately.
