About The Live Webinar

Herb crops such as cilantro, dill, and parsley face increasing threats from soil‑borne diseases and rising temperatures, challenges familiar to growers across the United States. Researchers at Israel's Newe Ya'ar Research Center have addressed these pressures by developing new varieties through traditional plant breeding. Their 'Smadi' and 'Smadi‑Pro' lines of cilantro provide improved tolerance to soil diseases and better performance under heat stress, reducing reliance on chemical treatments and supporting more sustainable production. This work highlights how modern breeding and careful crop management can help secure the future of vulnerable herb crops, with ongoing efforts extending similar solutions to dill and parsley.
