Duane Diefenbach receives 2015 Natural Resource Education Champion Award

PA ANREP awarded the inaugural Natural Resource Education Champion Award to Duane Diefenbach.

The Pennsylvania chapter of the Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (PA ANREP) awarded its inaugural Natural Resource Education Champion Award to Duane Diefenbach of Bellefonte, PA. The purpose of the award is to recognize an individual for their support of and enthusiasm for natural resources extension education at the county, state or regional level in Pennsylvania. The award was presented at the 2015 PA Joint Council of Extension Professionals (PA JCEP) meeting banquet in State College on November 17. PA ANREP President Jennifer Fetter described the award and PA ANREP Member David Jackson read from the award nomination.

Duane Diefenbach is a wildlife researcher, Adjunct Professor of Wildlife Ecology at Penn State, and Leader of the Pennsylvania Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit.

He is a partner to Extension Educators, Extension Specialists, and natural resources professionals alike, and understands the value of public education in natural resources management.

Duane is always willing to help educate adults and youth about wildlife management and especially the biology and behavior of the white-tailed deer. He shares his knowledge and research at a variety of educational events and has assisted with and presented at numerous Penn State Extension programs and filled gaps in Extension wildlife staff coverage.

He has the ability to make complex biological and statistical information easy to understand and communicates deer management to all types of audiences across the state. He co-authors the popular educational Deer-Forest Blog.
