Abandoned Wells in PA: What is a Reasonable Estimate?
When: November 15, 2017, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
This webinar is for all who are interested in learning more on abandoned gas wells in Pennsylvania
PA law defines an abandoned well as “Any well that has not been used to produce, extract or inject any gas, petroleum or other liquid within the preceding 12 months. The concerned with abandoned wells is that if methane was harmful to the atmosphere, leaking of abandoned wells might be a serious national problem. In Pennsylvania estimates for abandoned wells are difficult to make because many wells were drilled before 1957 were neither reported to the authorities nor recorded by the state record keepers. Dr. Engelder will discuss determining an accurate estimate of abandoned wells.
