Volume 12, Number 2, Spring 2012
I have some news to share on the local front: First, my department home has a new name: As of July 1, 2012, my old department (Agricultural and Extension Ed-ucation) merged with Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology to form the new joint department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology and Education (AESE). My out-reach programs (and this newsletter) are still rooted in Pennsylvania’s Cooperative Extension system which, you might have noticed, is now called Penn State Extension.
It is also my pleasure to announce that my friend and colleague, Mariano Sanchez, Professor of Sociology at the University of Granada in Spain, has arrived at Penn State University, where he will serve as a visiting scholar in the AESE department for the 2012-2013 academic year. Dr. Sanchez is well known for his international contributions in the areas of intergenerational studies, gerontology, and civic engagement. He will be working on several projects in the areas of active aging, senior volunteerism, multigenerational classrooms, and multigenerational workplace environments. Dr. Sanchez is located at 212 Ferguson, and he can be reached at: 814-863-7069; e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
