Sheila Chalot, WIC staff member, accepted a gift basket for the Monessen WIC office, which received recognition from Penn State Extension for their work in encouraging pregnant women and women with children to cut down and to stop smoking. The hazards from smoking not only affect the smoker but everyone around them.

Penn State offers free telephone coaching to share tips that have helped others cut down and quit as well as free diapers to pregnant women and new moms who quit smoking while using telephone coaching.

Information on help to quit or help to receive free patches to relieve withdrawal symptoms is available to anyone whose uses tobacco by calling Penn State Extension at 1-888-NO HABIT or by email to vao2@psu.edu.
