Subdivision & Land Development Course for Local Planning Officials
August 20, 2014The review of subdivisions and land developments is an important part of local municipal planning commissions, which impacts how our communities look. Penn State Extension, as part of the PA Municipal Planning Education Institute, will be conducting a Course in Subdivision & Land Development on September 18, 25 & October 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM at the Moscow Borough Hall, 123 Van Brunt St., Moscow, PA 18444.
Potatoes are Nutritious
August 18, 2014Potatoes sometimes get a bad rap as many folks believe that they cause weight gain. Potatoes are considered a vegetable; however, because they are a starchy vegetable, it is recommended to eat only up to five cups a week based on a 2000 calorie diet. Every day we should strive to eat two and one half cups of vegetables.

The 2014-2015 Master Gardener training course for the Pocono District (Pike, Wayne, Monroe and Carbon) is scheduled for Thursday Evenings, 6:00PM to 8:30PM, at the Monroe County Extension Office, 724 Phillips Street, Suite 201, Stroudsburg, PA 18360, from October 2, 2014 through March 5, 2015. The application should be completed and returned by Friday, September 22, 2014.

Long-time extension educators endow animal science scholarship
August 22, 2014Eugene and Carol Schurman, of Clymer, Pennsylvania, have given $50,000 to establish the Eugene and Carol Schurman Trustee Scholarship in the College of Agricultural Sciences. The scholarship will benefit students with demonstrated financial need, with first preference going to animal science majors.
Land-use webinar to explore conservation easements
August 21, 2014Conservation easements and their role in enhancing the landscapes and greenways of Pennsylvania communities will be the topic of a Web-based seminar offered by Penn State Extension.
