High Tunnel Biocontrol Workshop Coming Soon

A High Tunnel Biocontrol Workshop is being offered on February 1, 2012 from 7-9 pm this year at the Mid-Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Convention in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

By attending you will hear from specialists from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, IPM Laboratories and Penn State University. We’ll be talking about:

•    Principles for Successful Biocontrol (Dr. Cathy Thomas from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture)
•    Using Guardian Plants in High Tunnel Biocontrol Programs (Dr. Carol Glenister from IPM Laboratories)
•    The Penn State High Tunnel Facility Biocontrol Program (Dr. Michael Orzolek from Penn State University)
*Topics for all three presentations qualify for category pesticide credits.

You will also receive the 31-page Penn State Extension publication, Implementing a Biocontrol Program for Managing Insect Pests in High Tunnels. This publication is filled with practical information for starting your biocontrol program. Additionally, you will receive the recently developed Natural Enemy Field Guide which is a full-color, heavy-duty guide with illustrations and descriptions of natural enemies commonly seen in agricultural crop fields.
