The focus of the program this year will be on post-veraison problems in the vineyard that compromise fruit and wine quality. Growers work hard all year long and then watch the crop diminish in quality and size just before harvest. Complications begin with the weather but are exacerbated by late season threats including birds, bees, diseases (especially late downy and a variety of fruit rots), insects are more of a problem because of warmer weather and additional late flights including grape berry moth and spotted wing drosophila. Wine makers need clean and healthy fruit to make fine wines. Growers are challenged by this mélange of problems and this workshop will try to address them.
This meeting will have core and category pesticide credits available to PA licensed applicators.
This program is being hosted by video teleconferencing at the Penn State Extension Office in Montrose. To register or for further information please contact Kimberly Grace at klg11@psu.edu or call 570.278.1158.
