John & Bonny Onyon Recognized with “Friend of Extension” Award
Posted: November 13, 2012
The Onyon’s have been 4-H leaders of the North Jackson Ag Community 4-H Club for the past seventeen years. Over the year’s they John and Bonny have been avid supporters of the 4-H program lending a hand where ever it is needed. They both participated in 4-H as youth: Bonny doing sewing projects and showing ponies at the Harford Fair, and John showing chickens. All six of their children were also 4-H members. They started in dairy 4-H with their oldest son, and have worked on just about every project since then. They organized the food club fundraisers for years. They have also supervised the 4-H Building for many years at the Harford Fair, and John put together the fountain and flag display in memory of Doyle Thomas outside the 4-H Building. For years, John has helped with the pig show and sale, and Bonny keeps a catalog at the pig shows. John has also served terms on both the Penn State Extension Board and the 4-H YPAC Committee.
