The emerald ash borer (agrilus planipennis or EAB) is the green beetle that is responsible for the destruction of hundreds of millions of ash trees in 15 states including PA. It is native to Asia.
The bombardier beetle (Brachinus spp.) is a type of ground beetle belonging to the family Carabidae.
Periodical cicadas are a native North American species and are commonly referred to as “17-year locusts”, even though they are not locusts. They are the longest-lived insect in North America and are found in the eastern half of the United States. They occur nowhere else in the world.
