National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational

The members of the Pennsylvania Shooting Sports Teams traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska in June to participate in the 2012 National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational. They participated in the small-bore rifle, sporter air rifle, shotgun and archery events. In all, over 300 young adults from 33 states participated in the 4 day shooting event. The PA Archery team consisted of: David Eger, Hooversville; Sarah Grube, Meyersdale; and Mike Smith, Jr., Nanty Glo. Simon Knapp, Hooversville, was a member of the Riflery team.
The PA Riflery team won the Gold Medal for the National 4-H NRA 3-P Position Championship. They received a bronze medal in small-bore silhouette and 7th place in CMP 3-Position sporter rifle shooting. An aggregate of the three scores placed Team Pennsylvania 2nd place overall, and they received the Shooting Invitational’s Silver Medal. Simon Knapp placed 6th place individually overall.
The PA Archery Team placed 14th overall.
