February 4, 2013. Agriculture Secretary George Greig today said the more than decade-long effort to eradicate the Plum Pox Virus has been a success after three years of required monitoring shows the disease has not reappeared.

January 2011 - PA Agriculture Secretary Russell C. Redding announced in November that the latest round of surveys shows the state’s decade-long effort to eradicate the Plum Pox Virus was a success and the virus has not reappeared.
August 2010 - U. S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack presented the esteemed Honor Awards for a number of leadership efforts and accomplishments that have furthered the mission and goals of the Department of Agriculture. This award recognized not only U.S. Department of Agriculture scientists but also their grower, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, and Penn State Extension partners.
