Field Guide to Tree Fruit Disorders, Pests, and Beneficials

This Penn State Extension publication, in Spanish and English, is designed for use by orchard employees - often the first individuals to detect a new occurrence of a fruit disease or insect pest.

The scouting guide, titled "A Field Guide to Tree Fruit Disorders, Pests, and Beneficials," is full-color and a convenient pocket-size. It is coded by crop and affected plant part to facilitate easy use in the field.

Production of the guide was made possible by a Beginning Farmer/Rancher Grant titled "Supporting Pennsylvania New Farmers: The Start-up, Re-strategizing and Establishing Years" (USDA-NIFA Grant # 2015-70017-22852). This grant supports four model apple plots that serve as "living classrooms" for study circles for young, beginning, and Latino farmers.
