Produce Food Safety - Good Agricultural Practices
Posted: July 23, 2012
The three events will be held in Kutztown, Leola, and East Earl, Pennsylvania. Come for a walk-through tour with a PDA inspector to review the types of things an auditor looks for. The tour will examine several areas: documentation, water sources, employee policies, behaviors and conditions that increase contamination risks, use and storage of chemicals, and harvest operations. The Kutztown event will also include a No-Till Vegetable Production Field Walk to review a tomato trial in partnership with Rodale Institute to study the viability and implementation of no-till vegetable production systems. The No-Till Vegetable Production Field Walk will showcase new rolled cover crop vegetable production techniques being trialed side-by-side with black plastic production at this and other regional farms.
Learn from one another as we explore ways to improve food production and safety at the farm level. A question and answer session follows with a light snack.
