Use of soil aeration and improved soil fertility to increase competitive advantage of perennial forages with weeds in permanent organic pasture
The weed (primarily buttercup) and forage composition of pasture in northern PA is being monitored over time. Fertility improvement and pH adjustment with lime has significantly increased the percent legume in the sward. Aeration appears to have some value, but the improvements are extremely slow.
