Advanced trellis methods and mechanical harvesting for grape tomatoes
Grape tomato demand is rising; currently, these small tomatoes are harvested by hand. The project manager has already done a demonstration that indicates these tomatoes could be harvested more efficiently through trellising, training, and pruning in a way compatible with shake harvesting. The concept will be tested further through evaluation of yield per production area, trellis expense, and timed harvests. Funded by NE-SARE.
