Improving native bee pollination: Alternative nest boxes building on the lessons from the field
This project builds on previous work on enhancing the winter survival of native bees, and will include revised designs for nest boxes, more nesting for solitary species, and outreach to farmers on preserving bee habitat. The project manager will build, install, observe, and analyze the nest boxes and assess the effect of winter frost, and will use grower publications, newsletters, and meetings to tell farmers about the results.
