Developing an on-farm method to estimate dry matter loss in corn silage silos

A straightforward, farm-based method for estimated dry matter loss in silage will help farmers plan their corn crops and be aware of the degradation of its bulk and nutritive value. With a long-term goal of reducing shrinkage, the project manager will track silo management variables, dry matter losses, and density benchmarks that will allow farmers to manage silage more efficiently.
