Family Garden Day with Penn State Extension

Posted: May 23, 2017

Penn State Master Gardeners in Cumberland County are hosting Family Garden Day on Saturday, June 3, 2017, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Penn State Extension office, 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.

“Birds of a Feather” is the theme of this year’s family-friendly event. Flock to Family Garden Day to learn about birds, bees, animals, and gardening, with free, fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. Children can visit with 4-H club animals, including poultry, rabbits, goats, calves, and piglets, visit Darwin the tortoise, learn about bluebirds and bees, pound flowers to create a bandana, make a hummingbird feeder, pot up a plant, go on a scavenger hunt, and take home free seeds and prizes.

There is no pre-registration or fee required for Family Garden Day activities, so families can stop by anytime during the event to participate in some or all of the free activities. Activities are recommended for children ages pre-K through elementary school, and a parent or guardian must remain with children at all times during the event.
