Master Gardener Basic Training: Columbia, Northumberland and Montour Counties

Penn State Extension in Columbia County is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Penn State Extension Master Gardener Basic Training Program for Columbia, Montour and Northumberland Counties. Applications will be accepted through September 26.

This volunteer training course is designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills to serve as volunteer educators. Master Gardeners use research-based information to teach information on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.

In exchange for 40 hours of instruction, candidates must agree to volunteer 50 hours to the county Master Gardener Program within the first year and 20 hours each year thereafter to maintain certification.

The 2017-2018 basic training class will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:45 p.m. beginning October 5, 2017 through March 8, 2018. Classes will be held in the small conference room at the Penn State Extension Office in Columbia County in Bloomsburg. There is a $200 program fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. The class size may be limited. Applications will be accepted through September 26.
