The Master Gardeners of Allegheny County assist the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) with classes on composting and vermicomposting (worm composting). All gardeners know that a healthy, productive garden depends on good soil. Compost is the perfect amendment to your soil, adding organic materials and some nutrients. Worm compost is an incredible fertilizer for your garden soil and your houseplants. The best part is that you can create these products through recycling your garden waste and kitchen vegetable scraps. These classes teach you everything you need to know about this “recycling” process. You will leave equipped with either an “Earth Bin” or a worm bin (complete with worms). Reasonable fees are charged.
