Come join Carbon County Master Gardeners to celebrate "It's Time To Plant". We have expanded our spring workshop to two full days this year - Saturday, March 25 and Saturday, April 8.

Morning Session: (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon)

  • 10:00-11:00 a.m. - Raised beds - help control animal pests and makes gardening easier
  • 11:00-12:00 noon - using row covers and low tunnels to keep out pests and extend the season

Afternoon Session:

  • 1:00-3:00 p.m. - Learn how to save seeds from plants you grow. What it takes to start seeds indoors including lighting and soil options you have for starting seeds. You will then plant several varieties of vegetable seeds in newspaper pots and take them home to raise and transplant into your garden.

On Saturday, April 8, we will focus on composting and soils, managing rainfall in a time of drought and extreme storms, managing pests and pathogens using organic methods, and a hands-on seed planting workshop that will include crops that can be planted outdoors in April. You will find this event listed separately under upcoming events.

We will have free handouts on all our topics and free consultations with our Carbon County Penn State Master Gardeners.
