It's Time To Plant - April 8

Come join Carbon County Master Gardeners for It's Time to Plant workshop #2. Topics being discussed are composting and soils, managing rainfall in times of drought and storms, managing pests and early plant of cool weather crops.

Cost: $10 per day

Pre-registration and payment is required by Monday, April 3, 2017

Registration is limited to 26 people so register early!

Bring a bag lunch with you. Coffee, tea and bottled water will be provided.


Morning Session (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon)

  • 10:00-11:00 a.m. - Composting and Soils - organic methods to increase soil fertility for a successful season
  • 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon - Managing rainfall in times of drought and extreme storms - rain barrels, soaker hoses, rain gardens, safe water storage

Afternoon Session (1:00 - 3:00 p.m.)

  • 1:00-2:00 p.m. - Managing pests and pathogens in an organic garden - strategies to manage pests with a minimum of herbicides and pesticides
  • 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. - Early planting of cool weather crops - peas, spinach, and root crops.

We will have free handouts on all our topics and free consultations with our Carbon County Penn State Master Gardeners.
