Soybean Workshops Offered around the State, Week of Dec 10th

Interest in soybean production and soybean management is increasing. We have developed four workshops which will be offered around the state. These were presented last year and are back by popular demand. Each session is a mirror image of the others, but with a time for discussion of local concerns and issues. Knowledgeable Penn State specialists are presenting the program and will be available throughout the day.

10:30 AM - Cultural Management – Planting Date, Row Spacing,Seeding Rate
11:00 AM - Weed Management Systems in Soybeans
11:30 AM - Key Soybean Insect Pests and Management
12:00 PM - LUNCH
12:30 PM - Local Grower Panel Discusses Local Production Issues
01:00 PM - Soybean Diseases: Identification and Management
01:30 PM - Harvest and Storage
02:00 PM - Adjourn | Evaluation
The locations will be Mercer on Tuesday, Bedford on Wednesday, Mifflintown on Thursday and Collegeville on Friday.
This will be an excellent opportunity to review the issues in soybean production from 2012 and plan for 2013. The cost is $10 and includes lunch and materials and is possible due to the support of the Pennsylvania Soybean Promotion Board. There is still room at each of the workshops to attend.
