Pesticides: Safe Use and Alternatives – Topic of Wayne County Annual Meeting
Posted: October 19, 2012
Kerry Richards, member of Penn State’s Department of Agricultural and Extension Education - Pesticide Education Program, will discuss and demonstrate alternative ways to manage pests, including pesticides when necessary. Illustrations and hands-on demonstrations of non-chemical alternatives and selection of the least toxic methods of chemical control will be their primary focus. Because 92% of all exposures reported to the National Poison Centers occur in the home, remarks will also touch on ways for homeowners to reduce potential pesticide exposure with the use of personal protective exposure and proper storage.
The event will be held at the Penn State Extension office, Park Street Complex in Honesdale on November 7. The cost is $15.00 per person and includes a family style dinner beginning at 6:00 PM. Reservations must be made by calling Penn State Extension in Wayne County at (570) 253-5970, ext. 4110. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, October 30, 2012.
