Penn State Extension in Philadelphia is immensely grateful to the Penn State experts who visit Philadelphia and augment our efforts with their skills and resources:
Timothy Baird, Penn State Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and his students from Landscape Architecture 414 are currently working to re-purpose the landscape surrounding Methodist Family Services to create Philadelphia’s latest urban farm and high tunnel location.
Penn State Extension Horticulture Educators, Jeff Fowler and Nancy Bosold presented a hands-on turf grass management training program to over 40 City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation field staff.
Penn State Extension Agriculture Entrepreneurship Educator, John Berry presented the 5-session training, Exploring the Small Farm Dream to local food entrepreneurs.
Penn State Extension Agriculture Entrepreneurship Educator, Lynn Kime presented the 2-session course, Agricultural Opportunities in Urban Agricultural at The Enterprise Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Bill Elmendorf Penn State Professor of Urban and Community Forestry participated in the development of the City of Philadelphia’s Urban Forest and Ecosystem Management Plan.
