Dealers

On December 11, 2010 the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture passed new pesticide regulations. One of these new regulations requires pesticide dealers selling restricted use pesticides to have a certified dealer manager at each dealership location.

To become certified, each dealer manager will need to take and pass an exam, given by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA). The cost to take the Pesticide Dealer Manager exam is $50. Exam locations can be found by visiting the PaPlants website.

The Penn State Pesticide Education Program worked cooperatively with the PDA to develop a study manual to help dealer managers prepare for the exam. For information on ordering the study materials, visit our Certification Exam Study Materials web page.

Unlike certified pesticide applicators, once the exam is taken and passed, dealer managers will not need to attend recertification meetings to maintain their certification.

This information will help you determine if you need a secondary containment unit and/or a containment pad. It is helpful to dealers and applicators, as well as inspectors.
