Resolution Defining the 4-H Professional

WHEREAS, the profession of youth development

  1. focuses upon factors that influence the physical, social and psychological development of youth;
  2. has an interdisciplinary knowledge base which includes such areas as eduction, human development, sociology and the sciences;
  3. has as its objective to strengthen the knowledge, skills and attitudes of youth which help them meet their personal needs and the needs of society and
 

WHEREAS, the 4-H professional is one who

  1. practices the profession of youth development through an educator/manager role;
  2. involves youth and/or adults in designing informal learning experiences which contribute to youth development
  3. makes informed decisions related to educational processes, management, and human development;
 
Therefore, be it resolved that the Pennsylvania Association of Extension 4-H Agents encourages the Penn State Cooperative Extension to consider these coponents of youth development when defining entry levels, education and evaluation the 4-H professional.
