The purpose of the Distinguished Service Award Program is to encourage and recognize excellence in the field of professional Extension for members with more than ten years of service.
Mena Hautau’s career began with Iowa State University Extension in 1980, serving in Taylor and Scott Counties. She became employed by Penn State Cooperative Extension-Berks County in 1994. Since 2001, she has engaged industry to collaborate with extension to provide crop production meetings that attract over 700 producers annually. Hautau has improved farmer’s sustainability and profitability through the adoption of various cropping systems such as no-till and management intensive grazing.
