The Marcellus Summit 2011: Real Issues Discussed with a Balanced Perspective
Posted: December 18, 2011
The Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission, Penn State Cooperative Extension and Penn State Outreach partnered to host a successful fourth annual Marcellus Summit at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel November 16-18th. Panel presentations on Air Quality Sampling Initiatives, Marcellus States Perspectives, New and Emerging Issues in Shale Gas Production, Marcellus Producers, and Regulatory Agencies provided insight and a look at where development has come from and how it is transitioning in the shale play. Concurrent sessions on more specific topics such as pooling, pipeline infrastructure, and training communities to respond to Marcellus emergencies were also offered. The Research Poster Session was popular, highlighting 13 posters and the variety of research topics covered, such as landscape planning, hydraulic fracturing, public education and water-quality monitoring.
Copies of some of the presentations from the Summit may be found here. Mark the date for next year's Summit to be held at the Penn Stater October 10-12, 2012.
