Protecting Birds from Cats
Cats are non-native predators that can cause problems at bird feeders. You don’t want your bird feeder to become a cat feeder. The obvious solution is to keep your cat indoors, but if this is not an option or the cat is not your cat, you can try to change your feeder placement to make it difficult for the cat to surprise the birds. Move your feeder away from cover such as low shrubs or tree branches where cats may hide. If the birds can see the cat, they generally can stay out of its way.
