Extension Educators accepted pond samples from Pennsylvania residents that were examined for the presence of harmful algal blooms. Slides were made of the samples, which were then examined under a microscope and any algae were identified for the pond owners. The microscope was popular with many young people who were excited to see the many creatures that can live in water. Many questions were answered and factsheets on pond management and harmful algal blooms were distributed to anyone who visited the display.
