Pond and Lake Management Workshops - A Success!
Posted: November 5, 2012
These workshops ranged from one to six hours in length covering topics on pond and lake assessment, control of aquatic plants, and management of fisheries and wildlife.
Post workshop evaluations completed by 288 attendees found that 62% were pond/lake owners and 38% were lake managers, consultants, or pesticide applicators. All attendees indicated that they learned some new pond and lake management concepts at their workshop.
A four-month follow up evaluation of workshop attendees found 87% had utilized information they learned to take actions on their ponds and lakes including better management of aquatic plants and algae (39%), testing pond/lake water quality (23%), installing buffer strip around pond/lake (33%), used barley straw for algae control (13%) and added fish habitat structures (10%).
