Penn State Extension Marcellus Education Team Programs available in December

The Penn State Extension Marcellus Education Team has a variety of public programs available in December regarding natural gas development.
In the western part of the Commonwealth, Penn State Cooperative Extension and Beaver-Lawrence Farm Bureau will be holding the program, “Seismic Testing, Pipeline Agreements and Leasing Updates” at the following times and locations:
Tuesday, December 11, 2012 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Ben Franklin Learning Center, 815 Cunningham Ave., New Castle PA. (Corner of Cunningham & Lutton, adjacent to Taggert Football Stadium). Pre-register by calling the Lawrence County Extension office at 724-654-8370.
Thursday, December 13, 2012 1 to 3 PM at the Beaver County Extension Office, 1000 Third St., Ste 3, Beaver, PA. Pre-register by calling the Beaver County Extension office at 724-774-3003.
Thursday, December 13, 2012 7 to 9 PM at the Penn State Beaver Campus, Student Union Building Auditorium, 100 University Drive, Monaca, PA. Pre-register by calling the Beaver County Extension office at 724-774-3003.
Join Dan Brockett and Jon Laughner, Penn State Marcellus Education Team educators as they discuss the procedure, importance and impacts of seismic testing and pipeline development and what landowners should consider when approached to lease. A question and answer period will follow the presentation. Registration is required due to limited seating. There will be a $10 fee per person for the event, payable at the door.
In Lycoming County, Penn State Cooperative Extension will be holding a program, “Making Sense of Natural Gas Pipelines and Right-of-Way Agreements” Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Social Hall, Railroad & Water Streets, Hughesville PA.
Join Dave Messersmith and Matt Henderson, Penn State Marcellus Education Team educators and Les Greevy and John Shoemaker from Greevy and Associates as they discuss the procedure, importance and impacts of seismic testing and pipeline development and what landowners should consider when approached to lease. A question and answer period will follow the presentation. Registration is required calling the Lycoming County Cooperative Extension office at 570-433-3040. There will be a $15 fee per person for the event. Participants will have a greater understanding of pipeline right-of-ways and pipeline operations and considerations before signing right of way agreements.
In Bradford County, a Water Test Result and Interpretation Workshop will be held Tuesday, December 11th from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM at the Stoll Natural Resource Center, 200 Lake Road, Towanda, PA. Participants will learn how to understand water test reports, as well as drinking water standards, chain-of-custody, various water test parameters, and comparing test results with standards. Bryan Swistock, Penn State Extension Associate, and Mark Madden, Penn State Extension Educator, will discuss the management of private water supplies and interpretation of test reports. On Thursday, December 20th, join Penn State Extension for the monthly webinar shale series. David Yoxtheimer, P.G., Extension Associate, Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research (MCOR), "Shale Energy and Water Impacts: A Review of Recently Published Research," from 1 to 2 PM.
