Upcoming Programs Offered in November
Posted: October 28, 2012
Penn State will be holding a variety of programs for the public during the month of November. Dr. Michael Arthur and David Yoxtheimer, P.G., both with Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research, will be holding a day long class, “Introduction to Shale Energy Science: From the Depths to the Surface” which will provide science-based research and information on the potential of the shale resources and on the technologies used in shale development. Water quality, methane migration and wastewater management also will be discussed. The program will be held November 8th at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern PA.
On November 15th, two programs on “Seismic Testing, Pipeline Agreements and Leasing Update” will be held at the Mercer County Extension Office in Mercer PA. Extension educators will cover what these operations involve, why they are needed and what options may be available for landowners.
Potter County will hold a program November 29th entitled, “Already Leased? What are my Options?” Landowners may have property leased for the purposes of conventional gas production, but may be approached to have their leases amended in order to meet unit size standards or other conditions of unconventional shale gas production. This program will help landowners under lease to understand what their options might be if shale gas production is to occur.
The Penn State Extension monthly webinar series will continue with Uday Turaga, President and Founder of UDI Analytics presenting on, “Analyzing the Options for Monetizing the Shale Gas Resource”. The webinar will be held Thursday, November 15th at 1 PM
