Energy Use and Efficiency

The least expensive energy is often the energy that we didn't use. Developing new strategies to improve energy efficiency is critical. How do we cope with high energy prices?

Penn State Extension's Energy Efficiency Team is working to help consumers:

  • understand the potential of energy alternatives and to be able to make economic comparison between energy sources,
  • understand the emerging issues involved with utility company pricing and policies, and
  • develop strategies to use energy more efficiently in the home, on the farm, or in the workplace.

With the high prices of energy, more and more people want to know what the best fuel is for heating purposes. A frequently asked question this year is: "Would it be cheaper for me to heat my home with propane or electricity?" Check out the Energy Cost Comparison Charts
