Montour Master Gardeners were recognized at the March 18th Annual Awards Program at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville. Kay Jones and Mary Ditty were awarded the prestigious status of Master Gardener Emerita for their many years and hours of service to the program by Ken Balliet, district director; and Jerry Ward, Montour County Commissioner. Other awards went to Joan Silver for over 500 volunteer hours of service; Diane McAfee, Neville McAfee, and Erin Shaffer for over 100 volunteer hours; and Harriett Perez for an amazing 2,000 volunteer hours of service. The program also highlighted "How Gardening Can Help Your Nutrition", "Food Preservation" and the "Certified Foods and Wellness Volunteers" program. These programs are provided by Coryn Kalwanaski, Geisinger Clinical Dietian and Lynn James Extension Educator.
